The newly elected government of Jammu and Kashmir is beginning to deliver on its promises. Recently, the State Education Minister, Sakina Ittoo, announced the availability of 575 lecturer positions for plus two or higher secondary schools in the region. The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission will soon release the recruitment notification, allowing eligible candidates to apply for the lecturer roles in the School Education Department.
Sakina Masood, who serves as the Minister for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, shared this news on the X platform. She confirmed the approval of these 575 lecturer positions for senior secondary schools, also referred to as +2. The announcement noted that the department has sanctioned the recruitment of lecturers across various subjects, with the full notification set to be prepared and issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.
“We are committed to fulfilling the Chief Minister’s promise of providing jobs to the unemployed in J&K. I have approved the advertisement for 575 (+2) lecturers in the School Education Department, and these posts will be referred to JKPSC,” she stated.
Eligibility Criteria for JK 575 Lecturer Recruitment
The detailed eligibility requirements will be outlined in the official notification from the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. However, applicants can start preparing for the recruitment examination if they meet the following criteria:
- Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for lecturer positions in state government schools in Jammu and Kashmir.
- Reservation will be provided for permanent residents of the state with a valid domicile certificate.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
- Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in the specific subject they wish to teach. For instance, those applying to be history lecturers must have studied History as their main subject in their Master’s program.
- It is necessary to pass the Jammu Kashmir Teacher Eligibility Test (JK TET) to qualify for the lecturer position.
- Candidates must have completed a 2-year B.Ed. program from a recognized institution accredited by the NCTE.

Applicants should prepare the following documents, which will be required when submitting the application form:
- Aadhar card
- State domicile certificate
- Reservation certificate
- 10th-grade certificate
- 12th-grade marksheet and certificate
- Graduation and Master’s degree marksheets and certificates
- B.Ed. marksheet and diploma
- JK TET certificate
- Passport-sized photograph
- Signature of the applicant
Selection Procedure
The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) will oversee the recruitment examination for the 575 lecturer positions in 2024. The job advertisement has been approved by the State Education Minister, Sakina Ittoo, and has been sent to the JKPSC to develop a comprehensive announcement that will be accessible to applicants on their portal. The authority may conduct the examination either in a pen-and-paper format or via an online Computer-Based Test (CBT) at various centers throughout the state.
The examination will consist of multiple sections, including pedagogy, mathematics, reasoning, general knowledge, a language test, and a subject-specific test relevant to the lecturer position for which candidates are applying. The subject-specific section will be particularly detailed, featuring a significant number of questions.
Candidates must score above the cutoff marks for their specific category to qualify. Those who perform well in the examination will be invited for document verification and subsequent selection.
